Iran, Türkiye discuss ties, regional situations

TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Saturday to discuss bilateral ties and critical regional situations, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
During the phone conversation, Araghchi pointed to Israel’s “terrorist actions” in West Asia aimed at escalating tension and spreading instability to other parts of the region, describing the current regional circumstances as “more critical.”
He highlighted the necessity for continuing consultations among Muslim states, particularly the two “important” regional countries of Iran and Türkiye, to address the pressing issues.
The Iranian minister also stressed the importance of improving bilateral ties, expressing Tehran’s readiness to promote “constructive” dialogue with Ankara to expand bilateral cooperation in all areas.
Fidan, for his part, congratulated Araghchi on his appointment as Iran’s foreign minister, voicing his country’s preparedness for bilateral discussions and cooperation on important regional issues and international developments, as well as political consultations aiming to strengthen bilateral relations. ■
